Our commitment

We want the PNOE MED website to be usable by everyone, regardless of disability, age or assistive technology. For a healthcare service this is not a detail: the person visiting is often caring for someone close to them, under pressure.

Conformance level

This website is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. The most recent assessment found no violations of level A or AA success criteria.

How it was tested

The assessment was carried out in August 2026 and included:

  • automated testing with axe-core across every page of the site, at desktop and mobile viewports, covering WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 level A and AA criteria
  • manual colour contrast verification by sampling the actual rendered pixels, for elements on gradient backgrounds that automated tools cannot evaluate
  • keyboard-only navigation, checking focus order and the visibility of the focus indicator on every interactive element
  • reflow testing at 320 and 256 pixels wide, equivalent to 400% zoom
  • verification of behaviour with the reduced motion setting enabled

What is supported

  • full keyboard navigation with a visible focus indicator throughout
  • a skip link to the main content
  • respect for your operating system's reduced motion preference: with it enabled, every animated illustration stops
  • reflow without horizontal scrolling at up to 400% zoom
  • semantic heading structure, landmarks, and labels on all form fields

Known limitations

The ambulance illustration on the home page animates continuously and has no pause control within the page itself. The motion is decorative, carries no information, and stops completely when your operating system's reduced motion setting is enabled. While we consider this to meet the intent of success criterion 2.2.2, we note it here for transparency.
